POWER BI IN TEAMS

Here’s how you can use Power BI in Microsoft Teams:

  1. Add Power BI as a Tab:

    • In Microsoft Teams, you can add a Power BI report or dashboard as a tab within a Teams channel or chat. Here’s how to do it:

      • Open the desired channel or chat in Microsoft Teams.
      • Click the “+” icon to add a new tab.
      • Search for “Power BI” and select the Power BI app.
      • Choose whether you want to add a Power BI report or dashboard.
      • Sign in with your Power BI account if prompted.
      • Select the specific report or dashboard you want to add as a tab.
      • Customize the tab name and other settings if needed.
      • Click “Save” to add the Power BI tab to your channel or chat.
  2. Interact with Power BI Content:

    • Once you’ve added a Power BI tab, you and your team members can interact with the embedded report or dashboard directly within the Teams channel or chat. You can view and explore the data, apply filters, and gain insights without leaving Teams.
  3. Collaborate and Discuss:

    • Teams members can collaborate and discuss the Power BI content in the same channel or chat. You can have conversations about the data, share insights, and make decisions based on the information presented in the report.
  4. Notifications:

    • You can configure notifications within Teams to receive updates or alerts when changes are made to the Power BI content. This ensures that you and your team stay informed about data updates and relevant discussions.
  5. Access Control:

    • Access to the Power BI content in Teams is controlled by the permissions you’ve set for the report or dashboard in Power BI. Ensure that team members have the appropriate access rights to view and interact with the data.
  6. Scheduled Refresh:

    • If your Power BI report relies on data that is regularly updated, ensure that you have scheduled data refreshes in Power BI to keep the content up to date within Teams.
  7. Power BI Bot:

    • Microsoft Teams also offers a Power BI bot that allows you to ask natural language questions about your data directly in Teams chats. The bot can provide answers based on the data in your Power BI reports.
