  Azure DevOps Delete Pull Request

In Azure DevOps, you can delete a pull request if you have the necessary permissions. Deleting a pull request is a straightforward process, but please be cautious, as it will permanently remove the pull request and its associated changes. Here’s how to delete a pull request in Azure DevOps:

Note: You need the appropriate permissions to delete a pull request. Ensure that you have the necessary permissions or consult your Azure DevOps administrator if you encounter permission issues.

  1. Navigate to the Repository:

    • Go to the Azure DevOps project and navigate to the repository that contains the pull request you want to delete.
  2. Open the Pull Requests Page:

    • In the repository, click on the “Pull Requests” tab or navigate to the “Pull Requests” section.
  3. Select the Pull Request:

    • Locate the pull request that you want to delete from the list of pull requests.
    • Click on the title of the pull request to open it.
  4. Access the Pull Request Options:

    • Within the pull request view, you will see options at the top, including “Overview,” “Commits,” “Changes,” “Discussion,” and more.
    • Look for an option like “…” or “More Actions.” This is where you can find the delete option.
  5. Delete the Pull Request:

    • Click on the “…” or “More Actions” button.
    • From the dropdown menu, select the option to “Delete.”
  6. Confirmation Prompt:

    • A confirmation prompt will appear to confirm that you want to delete the pull request and its associated branch (if applicable).
    • Read the confirmation message carefully.
  7. Confirm Deletion:

    • If you are sure you want to delete the pull request, confirm by clicking the “Delete” or “Confirm” button in the prompt.
  8. Pull Request Deleted:

    • After confirmation, the pull request will be deleted, and you will receive a confirmation message.
  9. Branch Deletion (Optional):

    • Depending on your settings and the state of the branch associated with the pull request, you may also have the option to delete the branch. Be cautious when deleting branches, as this action is irreversible.

That’s it! The pull request and its associated changes have been deleted from the repository.

Please exercise caution when deleting pull requests, as this action permanently removes the pull request and its changes. It’s a good practice to communicate with your team and review the pull request thoroughly before deciding to delete it.
