Azure DevOps Pricing

Azure DevOps, Microsoft’s set of tools and services for software development and DevOps practices, offers a range of pricing options to accommodate different needs and requirements. Azure DevOps pricing is based on a combination of factors, including the number of users, the services used, and the level of usage. Here’s an overview of Azure DevOps pricing:

  1. Azure DevOps Services (Cloud-based):

    • Azure DevOps Services offers a usage-based pricing model, and it provides a limited number of free users with basic features.
    • Pricing is based on the number of users who need access to Azure DevOps services, such as Azure Boards, Azure Repos, Azure Pipelines, Azure Test Plans, and Azure Artifacts.
    • There is a free tier for up to five users, which includes basic features. Beyond the free tier, you pay per user per month.
  2. Azure DevOps Server (On-premises):

    • Azure DevOps Server, formerly known as Team Foundation Server (TFS), has a one-time purchase licensing model.
    • Pricing is based on the number of users who require access to the on-premises server.
    • You can choose from different licensing options, such as Azure DevOps Server CALs (Client Access Licenses) or Azure DevOps Server Express for smaller teams.
  3. Azure DevOps Artifacts (Package Management):

    • Azure DevOps Artifacts pricing is also usage-based.
    • You pay for the storage and data transfer associated with your package feeds.
    • Some usage may be included at no extra cost, depending on your Azure DevOps subscription.
  4. Azure DevTest Labs:

    • Azure DevTest Labs has its own pricing structure, which is based on the virtual machines (VMs) and other resources used within the labs.
    • Pricing for DevTest Labs is separate from Azure DevOps Services.
  5. Azure Resources for CI/CD:

    • When using Azure Pipelines for CI/CD, you may incur costs for the Azure resources (e.g., VMs, databases, storage) used in your build and release pipelines. These costs are billed separately based on Azure’s pricing model.
