GCP Security Services

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) provides a comprehensive set of security services and features to help organizations protect their data, applications, and infrastructure. Here are some key security services offered by Google Cloud:

  1. Identity and Access Management (IAM): IAM allows you to manage access to GCP resources by controlling user permissions and roles. You can assign granular permissions to users, groups, and service accounts, ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to specific resources.

  2. Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP): IAP provides an additional layer of security for applications running on GCP. It allows you to enforce access controls at the application level, based on user identity and context, rather than relying solely on network-level security.

  3. Cloud Security Command Center (Cloud SCC): Cloud SCC provides centralized visibility and control over your GCP security posture. It offers security scanning, vulnerability management, and threat detection capabilities, allowing you to monitor and respond to security threats in real-time.

  4. Cloud Key Management Service (KMS): KMS provides a managed service for key management and encryption of data at rest. It allows you to generate, store, and manage cryptographic keys, providing an additional layer of security for sensitive data.

  5. Security Scanner: The Security Scanner service helps you identify security vulnerabilities in your web applications and APIs. It scans your applications for common security issues and provides recommendations for remediation.

  6. Cloud Data Loss Prevention (DLP): DLP enables you to discover, classify, and protect sensitive data across GCP services. It offers predefined detectors for common data types, as well as customizable detectors for identifying specific patterns or formats.

  7. VPC Service Controls: VPC Service Controls allow you to define security perimeters for your sensitive data and services. It provides an additional layer of protection by restricting data access and preventing data exfiltration between services within the defined perimeter.

  8. Web Application Firewall (WAF): GCP’s Web Application Firewall protects your applications from common web vulnerabilities and attacks. It filters and monitors incoming HTTP/S traffic, detecting and mitigating threats to your applications.

  9. Google Cloud Armor: Cloud Armor is a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) and application defense service. It provides protection against layer 3 and layer 4 DDoS attacks and enables you to create custom security rules to defend against application-level attacks.

These are just a few examples of the security services provided by Google Cloud. GCP’s security offerings are designed to provide a robust security framework, helping organizations protect their assets and data in the cloud.
