                          HDFS DFS DU

In Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), the dfs -du command is used to calculate the disk space used by files and directories within the HDFS file system. The command provides information about the size of individual files, directories, and the total size occupied by files and directories in HDFS.

Here’s how you can use the hadoop dfs -du command:

bash
hadoop fs -du [-s] <path>
  • -s (optional): When you use the -s option, the command displays the summary total size of the specified path and its subdirectories, rather than showing the size of individual files and directories.

  • <path>: This is the HDFS path for which you want to calculate the disk usage.

Here are a few examples of how you can use the hadoop dfs -du command:

  1. Calculate the disk usage of a specific file:
bash
hadoop fs -du /user/hadoop/input/myfile.txt
  1. Calculate the disk usage of a directory and its subdirectories:
bash
hadoop fs -du -s /user/hadoop/data/
