HDFS ls

                                   HDFS ls

In Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), the hdfs dfs -ls command is used to list the files and directories within a specified HDFS directory. This command provides a directory listing, showing the names, permissions, replication factors, block sizes, modification timestamps, and owners of files and directories in HDFS.

Here’s how you can use the hdfs dfs -ls command:

bash
hdfs dfs -ls <path>
  • <path>: This is the HDFS path for which you want to list the contents. It can be the root directory (“/”), a specific directory, or a file within HDFS.

For example, to list the contents of the root directory in HDFS, you can use the following command:

bash
hdfs dfs -ls /

If you want to list the contents of a specific directory, you can provide the directory path as the argument:

bash
hdfs dfs -ls /user/hadoop/data/

In this example, the command will list the files and subdirectories within the “/user/hadoop/data/” directory in HDFS.
