POWER BI ODATA

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open Power BI Desktop:

    • Launch Power BI Desktop on your computer. If you don’t have it installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Power BI website.
  2. Get Data:

    • In Power BI Desktop, go to the “Home” tab in the ribbon.
  3. Connect to OData Source:

    • Click on “Get Data” to open the “Get Data” dialog.
    • In the “Get Data” dialog, search for “OData” or navigate to the “OData” category under “Online Services.”
    • Select “OData” and click the “Connect” button.
  4. Specify OData Feed URL:

    • In the “OData Feed” dialog, you will be prompted to enter the URL of the OData feed you want to connect to. This URL typically points to the OData service’s endpoint.
    • Enter the OData Feed URL and click “OK.”
  5. Authentication (if required):

    • Depending on the OData service, you may need to provide authentication credentials. If prompted, enter the necessary credentials to access the OData source.
  6. Navigator:

    • After successfully connecting, the “Navigator” dialog will appear. Here, you can choose which tables or entities from the OData source you want to import into Power BI.
    • Select the tables or entities you need, and you can preview the data before loading it into Power BI.
  7. Load Data:

    • Once you’ve selected the tables or entities you want, click the “Load” button to import the data into Power BI.
  8. Data Modeling and Visualization:

    • After loading the data, you can perform data modeling, create relationships between tables, and design your reports and visuals using Power BI’s user-friendly interface.
  9. Data Refresh:

    • If the data in your OData source changes regularly, you can set up a scheduled data refresh in Power BI to keep your reports up to date.
  10. Create Reports and Dashboards:

    • Use Power BI’s features to create interactive reports, charts, and dashboards based on the imported OData data.
  11. Publish and Share:

    • You can publish your Power BI reports to the Power BI service and share them with colleagues or stakeholders. They can view the reports online or through the Power BI mobile app.
