Python Wget
In Python, there is no built-in module named “wget.” However, you can use the wget
module, which is a third-party library that allows you to download files from the internet easily. To use it, you need to install the module first. You can install it using pip:
pip install wget
Once you have installed the wget
module, you can use it to download files. Here’s an example of how to use it:
import wget
url = 'https://example.com/sample_file.txt'
output_path = '/path/to/save/sample_file.txt'
try:
# Download the file
filename = wget.download(url, out=output_path)
print(f"File downloaded: {filename}")
except Exception as e:
print(f"An error occurred: {e}")
In this example, replace https://example.com/sample_file.txt
with the actual URL of the file you want to download, and replace /path/to/save/sample_file.txt
with the desired path on your local machine where you want to save the downloaded file.
The wget.download()
function will download the file from the given URL and save it to the specified local path. If there’s an error during the download, it will catch the exception and print an error message.
