Guido van Rossum is a Dutch computer programmer and the creator of the Python programming language. He was born on January 31, 1956, in the Netherlands. Van Rossum began developing Python in the late 1980s while working at the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in the Netherlands.

Python was initially conceived as a hobby project, but it quickly gained popularity due to its simplicity and readability. Guido van Rossum designed Python to be an easy-to-learn and expressive programming language, with a focus on code readability and simplicity.
