How to Install a Local Atom in Dell Boomi

Dell Boomi Atoms are essential components of the Boomi integration platform. A local Atom is a runtime engine on your local server (or another machine within your network). This allows you to securely process integrations behind your firewall, offering more control for sensitive data or integrating with systems within your infrastructure. Let’s get one set up!

Prerequisites:

  • A Dell Boomi Account: You’ll need an active account to download the installer and manage your Atom.
  • System Requirements: Meet the minimum hardware and software requirements outlined in Boomi’s documentation ([invalid URL removed])
  • Administrative Privileges: You’ll need administrative rights on the machine where you’ll install the Atom.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

  1. Log in to your Boomi Account: Navigate to the Boomi platform and log in using your credentials.
  2. Download the Installer:
    • Go to Manage > Atom Management.
    • Click the + button and select Create an Atom.
    • Select “Local” as the setup preference in the Atom Setup dialog.
    • Choose your operating system (e.g., Windows, Linux).
    • Click Download Installer.
  3. Generate an Installer Token (Optional):
    • If enhanced security is desired, click Security Options.
    • Click Generate Token. Choose how long you’d like the token to be valid.
    • Copy this installer token for later use.
  4. Run the Installer:
    • Locate the downloaded Atom installer and right-click on it.
    • Select “Run as administrator.”
    • Follow the on-screen prompts within the installation wizard.
    • If you generate an installer token, you’ll be asked to provide it.
  5. Verify Installation:
    • After installation, return to the Boomi platform.
    • In the Manage > Atom Management tab, your newly installed local Atom should be listed under “Unattached Atoms.”

Attaching Your Atom and Creating an Environment

  1. Attach the Atom:
    • Click on your newly installed Atom in the Atom Management tab.
    • Provide a descriptive name for your Atom.
  2. Create an Environment
    • Click the New button and select Environment.
    • Enter a name and choose an environment classification (e.g., Development, Test, Production).
    • Click Save.
    • Attach your local Atom to this new Environment.

Congratulations! You’ve installed and configured a local Atom in your Dell Boomi account. You can start building and deploying integration processes that utilize this runtime engine.

Important Notes

  • Firewall: Ensure any relevant firewall rules allow communication between your local Atom and the Boomi platform.
  • Regular Updates: Keep your local Atom updated with the latest versions released by Boomi for security and feature enhancements.
