Salesforce NRA
There was significant discussion within Salesforce regarding its relationship with the National Rifle Association (NRA). Approximately 4,000 Salesforce employees signed an open letter urging the company to end its commercial relationship with the NRA, especially in the wake of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. The employees expressed concern about the NRA’s use of Salesforce’s cloud-based CRM software for marketing and fundraising purposes, particularly in the context of mass shootings. They argued that continuing the relationship was contrary to Salesforce’s ethical use policy, which emphasizes the protection of humans from direct harm from the use of its technology.
Despite these concerns from the employees, Salesforce co-CEOs Bret Taylor and Marc Benioff indicated that the company would not bar specific customers from using its services. This decision was in line with Salesforce’s broader approach to customer engagement and its commitment to providing services without discrimination against particular organizations.
