Document DB AWS
Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) is a fast, scalable, highly available, and fully managed document database service that supports MongoDB workloads. As a document database, Amazon DocumentDB makes it easy to store, query, and index JSON data.
Here are some features of Amazon DocumentDB:
1. **Compatibility with MongoDB**: Applications developed for MongoDB can run unmodified on Amazon DocumentDB.
2. **Scalability**: You can scale the database cluster’s compute and memory resources up or down, depending on your requirements. Storage scales automatically, up to 64 TB, in response to your application traffic.
3. **Highly available and durable**: Amazon DocumentDB replicates six copies of your data across three AWS Availability Zones. It provides fault-tolerance, and you can perform both cluster and instance level failovers, typically in under 30 seconds.
4. **Fully managed**: The service automates time-consuming tasks such as hardware and software provisioning, setup and configuration, software patching, and backups.
5. **Security**: It supports network isolation using Amazon VPC, encryption at rest with AWS Key Management Service (KMS), and encryption in transit with Transport Layer Security (TLS).
6. **Backups and restoration**: Amazon DocumentDB continuously backs up your data to Amazon S3, and you can perform point-in-time recovery for your cluster volumes to any second during your retention period, up to 35 days.
7. **Querying and indexing**: Amazon DocumentDB allows you to query your database using the same MongoDB application code, drivers, and tools that you use today. You can use MongoDB’s rich query language and secondary indexes to find, sort, and filter JSON data.
8. **Performance insights**: It provides detailed performance metrics through Amazon CloudWatch and supports performance insights enabling you to monitor and tune your database performance.
