Job Family Table In SAP HR

  • What are Job Families?

    • Grouping of Similar Jobs: Families group jobs with common characteristics, responsibilities, and required skills. For example, you might have a Job Family called “Software Development” consisting of jobs like “Software Engineer,” “Senior Software Engineer,” and “Software Architect.”
    • Hierarchical Structure: Job Families can often be arranged in a hierarchy to reflect levels of seniority or specialization.
    • Competency Mapping: Competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities) can be defined at the Job Family level. Jobs within the family inherit these competencies, promoting consistency in expectations.

Key SAP Tables Related to Job Families

    • HRP1000: This table stores Objects. Within it, you’ll find objects with the following attributes to represent Job Families:
      • OBJTYPE (OTYPE): Set to “JF” to signify a Job Family object.
      • SHORT TEXT (STEXT): The name of the Job Family.
    • HRP1001: This table stores relationships between objects. Of importance are relationships like:
      • Relationship Type “B450”: Indicates “Contains.” This links a Job Family (JF) to its associated Jobs (C).

    Using SAP Transactions

Here are some essential transactions to work with Job Families:

    • PP01: The primary transaction for creating and maintaining organizational objects, including Job Families.
    • PPOME: A transaction used to manage your overall organizational structure, including the relationships between Job Families, Jobs, Positions, etc.
    • HRTMC_PPOM: In newer SAP systems, this transaction (requiring Business Function HCM_TMC_CI_1 ) provides enhanced functionality for managing your job architecture.

    Example

Imagine a company with the following Job Family structure:

    • Software Development (JF)
      • Software Engineer (C)
      • Senior Software Engineer (C)
      • Software Architect (C)

    Additional Considerations

    • Job Architecture: Job Families are a vital component of the overall SAP Job Architecture, which includes Functional Areas (FN), Job Families (JF), Jobs (C), and Positions (S).
    • Custom Enhancements: Some organizations customize their HR data model and processes. You’ll need to consult your SAP experts for specific guidance if you have heavily customized tables or structures.
