Amazon S3 Pricing

Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) offers a flexible and scalable cloud storage solution for storing and retrieving data. The pricing for Amazon S3 is based on several factors, including storage usage, data transfer, and additional features. Here are the key components of Amazon S3 pricing:

  1. Storage Pricing: Amazon S3 charges for the amount of data stored in the service. The pricing varies based on the storage class selected:

    • Standard Storage: This is the default storage class and offers high durability and availability. The pricing starts at $0.023 per GB per month for the first 50 TB of storage.

    • Intelligent-Tiering Storage: This storage class automatically moves data between frequent and infrequent access tiers, optimizing costs. The pricing starts at $0.023 per GB per month for the first 50 TB of storage.

    • Standard – Infrequent Access (Standard-IA) Storage: Designed for less frequently accessed data. The pricing starts at $0.0125 per GB per month for the first 50 TB of storage.

    • One Zone – Infrequent Access (One Zone-IA) Storage: Similar to Standard-IA, but data is stored in a single availability zone. The pricing starts at $0.01 per GB per month for the first 50 TB of storage.

    • Glacier Storage: Designed for long-term archival storage. The pricing starts at $0.004 per GB per month.

    • Glacier Deep Archive Storage: Designed for long-term archival storage with the lowest cost. The pricing starts at $0.00099 per GB per month.

  2. Data Transfer Pricing: Amazon S3 charges for data transferred into and out of the service. There are separate pricing tiers for data transfer within AWS regions, to different AWS regions, and to the internet. The pricing varies based on the volume of data transferred.

  3. Request Pricing: Amazon S3 charges for API requests made to the service, such as PUT, GET, and DELETE requests. The pricing varies based on the request type and frequency.

  4. Additional Features: Amazon S3 offers additional features such as data transfer acceleration, cross-region replication, and storage management features. These features may have associated costs, which vary depending on the specific service and usage.
