Google Cloud Terminal

Google Cloud Terminal is a web-based command-line interface (CLI) provided by Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It allows users to interact with their GCP resources, manage services, deploy applications, and perform various tasks using the command-line interface.

The Google Cloud Terminal provides a convenient way to access and manage your GCP resources directly from your web browser. It eliminates the need for installing and configuring local development tools and provides a consistent environment for managing your cloud infrastructure.

With the Google Cloud Terminal, you can run commands to create and manage virtual machines, configure networking, deploy applications, manage storage, and perform other administrative tasks within your Google Cloud project. It supports popular command-line tools and utilities such as gcloud, gsuit, and bq.

To access the Google Cloud Terminal, you can follow these steps:

  • Visit the Google Cloud Console website () and log in with your Google Cloud account.
https://console.cloud.google.com/
  • Select the project you want to work with from the project dropdown menu.
  • Once you’re inside the project, click on the “Activate Cloud Shell” button located at the top right corner of the console. This will launch the Google Cloud Terminal in a new browser tab.

The Google Cloud Terminal provides an interactive shell environment with a Linux-based command-line interface. It comes pre-installed with essential tools and SDKs required to manage and interact with your Google Cloud resources.

You can use the Google Cloud Terminal to execute commands, write scripts, and automate tasks using popular command-line tools. It also provides features like persistent disk storage, customizable settings, and support for multiple sessions.

Please note that while the Google Cloud Terminal provides a convenient way to interact with your GCP resources, you can also use other command-line interfaces like the Google Cloud SDK or third-party terminal applications if you prefer working locally on your machine.
