One key feature of Oracle Cloud SCM is its ability to integrate with other Oracle Cloud applications, providing a comprehensive view of an organization’s supply chain.

FBDI (File-Based Data Import) is a tool provided by Oracle to allow for bulk uploading of data into Oracle applications. It’s a mechanism for users to upload large amounts of data into Oracle’s applications in a straightforward, efficient manner. Essentially, you create an Excel file with your data, then convert that Excel file into a CSV (Comma Separated Value) file. The CSV file is then uploaded to Oracle using the File Import and Export tool.

Here are the general steps of using FBDI in Oracle Cloud:

1. Download the FBDI template: Each module in Oracle Cloud has its own FBDI templates which you can download from the Oracle Help Center or from the specific module’s data import/export area. These templates are Excel files that include multiple tabs to guide you in the process.

2. Prepare your data: Fill in the data in the Excel template. This includes the mandatory fields and any optional ones that you need. Be careful to enter data in the correct format and to validate your data before you proceed.

3. Generate CSV file: After entering your data into the Excel template, generate a CSV file from it. Oracle provides a macro in the Excel template that helps in converting the Excel data into the required CSV format.

4. Upload CSV to UCM server: Use the ‘File Import and Export’ tool under the Tools menu in Oracle Cloud to upload your CSV file. The UCM (Universal Content Management) server is where Oracle Cloud stores the files for processing.

5. Run the Import Job: After uploading, go to the specific Oracle Cloud module (like Accounts, Inventory, etc.) and schedule or run the import process/job for the uploaded file. The job will pick up the file from UCM server and import the data into Oracle Cloud.

6. Check the Import Status/Logs: After running the import job, you can check its status. If the job completes successfully, your data has been imported. If not, check the logs for errors, fix them in your CSV file and re-upload and run the job.
