TabPy Tableau

TabPy (Tableau Python Server) is an external service that allows Tableau to execute Python scripts and code. It enables data analysts and developers to leverage the power of Python’s data science libraries and machine learning capabilities directly within Tableau.

Here’s how TabPy works:

Setting Up TabPy Server: First, you need to set up the TabPy server, which is a separate Python server that runs independently from Tableau. You can install it using pip (Python package manager) and start the server.

Connecting Tableau to TabPy: After the TabPy server is running, you need to connect Tableau to TabPy. In Tableau, you can go to the “Help” menu and select “Settings and Performance” > “Manage External Services” > “Add Python Server” to configure the connection.

Writing Python Scripts in Tableau: Once the connection is established, you can write Python scripts directly in Tableau using calculated fields or table calculations. Tableau will pass the required data to the TabPy server, execute the Python script, and return the results to Tableau for visualization.

Python Libraries and Functionality: TabPy allows you to use various Python libraries, such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and more. You can perform data preprocessing, statistical analysis, machine learning, and other advanced analytics directly within Tableau.
