Hadoop FS MV

In Hadoop, there is no direct mv command like in a typical Unix/Linux file system for moving files and directories. Instead, you can use the hadoop fs command along with the -mv option to move files or directories from one location to another within the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).

Here’s the basic syntax for moving files or directories in HDFS using the hadoop fs -mv command:

• <source>: Specifies the source path of the file or directory you want to move.
• <destination>: Specifies the destination path where you want to move the file or directory.

For example, if you want to move a file named example.txt from the /user/hadoop/source/ directory to the /user/hadoop/destination/ directory in HDFS, you would use the following command:

Make sure that you have the necessary permissions to read from the source location and write to the destination location in HDFS. The -mv command will effectively move the file or directory, and it will no longer exist in the source path after the operation is completed.

You can also use this command to rename files or directories within HDFS by specifying the new name as the destination path. For example:
