Starting the Kafka Environment

  1. Open a terminal/command prompt.
  2. Navigate to the Kafka directory: Go to the directory where you extracted the Kafka files.
  3. Start Zookeeper: Kafka uses Zookeeper for coordination. Enter: bin/zookeeper-server-start.sh config/zookeeper.properties
  4. Start Kafka server: In a new terminal window, enter bin/kafka-server-start.sh config/server.properties
