Google Cloud Next 2023
Google Cloud Next 2023 showcased a range of advancements and new offerings, primarily centered around artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies. Key highlights from the event include:
Artificial Intelligence Innovations: AI was a major focus, with the introduction of Duet AI in Google Workspace, now generally available. This tool acts as a collaboration partner and is integrated across various Google Cloud products for tasks like application development, operations, database management, data analysis, and cybersecurity. Google Cloud also introduced digital watermarking and verification for AI-generated images using Google DeepMind’s SynthID technology.
Vertex AI Developments: Google Cloud expanded the capabilities of Vertex AI, its unified AI platform, by adding new models and updating existing ones. This includes integrations with Meta’s Llama 2, Code Llama, Falcon LLM, and Anthropic’s Claude 2 into Model Garden. Updates to Google’s first-party foundation models such as PaLM, Codey, and Imagen were also announced, enhancing their performance and quality.
Data Analytics and Database Features: New features and capabilities were announced for Google Cloud’s core data and analytics offerings. BigQuery Studio, a new interface for data engineering, analytics, and predictive analysis, was introduced, providing enhanced support for unstructured data, cross-cloud analytics, secure data sharing, and governance.
Cross-Cloud Network: Google Cloud introduced the Cross-Cloud Network, an open and programmable global cloud networking platform designed to facilitate easier connection of applications and users across various environments, including on-premises and multiple cloud platforms.
Sustainability Initiatives: Google Cloud Next 2023 also focused on sustainability, with the introduction of Environment APIs – Solar, Air Quality, and Pollen – by the Google Maps platform. These APIs provide environmental data to help businesses and individuals make informed health and safety decisions.
Expanding Partnerships: Google Cloud has expanded its partnerships, integrating generative AI into various industry-specific applications. This includes collaborations with companies like Bayer, Culture Amp, MSCI, and Six Flags, leveraging AI for various purposes from medical use to park guidance.
Security Cloud Features: Duet AI, an always-on AI collaborator, was also highlighted for its role in cybersecurity. It’s integrated into solutions like Mandiant Threat Intelligence, Chronicle Security Operations, and Security Command Center, offering support for threat assessment, detection, and risk remediation.
These highlights reflect Google Cloud’s commitment to innovation in AI and cloud technologies, aiming to provide more powerful, efficient, and secure solutions for businesses and developers.
