To download the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), you can visit the official Oracle website or use an alternative distribution like AdoptOpenJDK, which provides open-source implementations of the JRE.

Oracle provides the official JRE distribution. Please note that Oracle has updated its distribution and support model. Starting with Java 11, Oracle no longer provides free long-term support for the Oracle JDK; you may need to consider Oracle’s subscription support for commercial use. However, you can still download Oracle’s OpenJDK builds for free.

1. Visit the Oracle Java SE Downloads page: https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase-downloads.html

2. Scroll down to the “Java SE Runtime Environment” section.

3. Accept the Oracle Technology Network License Agreement by clicking on the checkbox.

4. Choose the download link for your operating system (Windows).

5. You may be prompted to create or sign in with an Oracle account to proceed with the download. Follow the on-screen instructions if necessary.

6. Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the installation instructions to install the Oracle JRE on your system.
