  2. Scalability: DocumentDB allows you to scale your database instances up or down to accommodate changing workloads. It automatically handles replication and data distribution across multiple availability zones for high availability and durability.

  3. Performance: Amazon DocumentDB provides fast and consistent performance by utilizing SSD storage and a distributed, fault-tolerant architecture. It supports read replicas to offload read traffic and enhance performance.

  4. Managed Service: AWS manages the infrastructure, patching, backups, and maintenance tasks for Amazon DocumentDB, allowing you to focus on your applications and data. This eliminates the need for you to manage the underlying database infrastructure.

  5. Security: DocumentDB integrates with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) for authentication and authorization. It also supports encryption at rest using AWS Key Management Service (KMS) and encryption in transit using SSL/TLS.

  6. Integration with AWS Ecosystem: Amazon DocumentDB seamlessly integrates with other AWS services such as AWS CloudFormation, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), and AWS Command Line Interface (CLI). This integration allows you to leverage additional AWS services for database management, monitoring, and automation.

It’s important to note that while Amazon DocumentDB is compatible with MongoDB, it may not support all MongoDB features or specific versions of MongoDB. If your application requires specific MongoDB features or versions that are not supported by DocumentDB, you may consider running MongoDB on EC2 instances or using other MongoDB-based services available on AWS Marketplace.

In addition to Amazon DocumentDB, AWS also provides other services like Amazon EC2 for running MongoDB on virtual machines, Amazon ElastiCache for caching with MongoDB, and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for migrating MongoDB databases to AWS.
