Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) Block Volume service’s performance levels, you can choose between two options: General Purpose and Extreme Performance.

  1. General Purpose Performance:
    • Suitable for most workloads.
    • Balanced performance for a wide range of applications.
    • Uses network-attached storage (NFS) protocol.
    • Offers consistent I/O performance for small to medium-sized workloads.
  1. Extreme Performance Performance:
    • Geared towards high-performance and mission-critical applications.
    • Uses block storage protocol (iSCSI) for optimized performance.
    • Designed for high I/O operations and low-latency requirements.
    • Best for databases, analytics, and applications with intense I/O demands.
