Build Fusion HCM BI Report Data Model

Here are the general steps to build a Fusion HCM BI report data model:

  1. Access BI Publisher: Log in to Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher (BI Publisher) using your credentials.

  2. Navigate to Data Model: Once logged in, navigate to the area where you can create or manage data models. The exact location and access may vary depending on your organization’s setup.

  3. Create a New Data Model:

    • Click on the option to create a new data model.
    • Give your data model a descriptive name and optionally provide a description.
  4. Add Data Sources:

    • Start by adding the data sources you want to use in your report. Fusion HCM typically stores data in various tables, so you may need to connect to the relevant data sources or databases.
    • Configure the connection details, including server details, username, password, and any other required information.
  5. Define SQL Queries:

    • For each data source, you will need to define SQL queries that retrieve the data you need. These queries should be tailored to your specific reporting requirements.
    • Write SQL queries that join tables, filter data, and retrieve the necessary columns.
  6. Map Data Elements:

    • After defining your SQL queries, you’ll need to map the data elements (columns) from your queries to the data model. This step helps BI Publisher understand the data structure.
    • Map each column to the appropriate field in your data model.
  7. Set Up Relationships:

    • If your report involves data from multiple data sources, you may need to define relationships between the data sources. This is typically done by specifying how the data is linked between different tables or queries.
  8. Test Data Model:

    • Before proceeding further, it’s essential to test your data model to ensure that it retrieves the expected data. Use the testing tools provided by BI Publisher to run your data model and view the results.
  9. Save Data Model:

    • Save your data model to ensure that your progress is not lost.
  10. Build Your Report:

    • Now that you have a data model in place, you can start building your Fusion HCM BI report.
    • Use BI Publisher’s report design tools to create the layout and format of your report, incorporating the data elements from your data model.
  11. Preview and Refine:

    • Preview your report to see how it looks and verify that it displays the data correctly.
    • Make any necessary refinements to the report layout or data model queries.
  12. Save and Publish:

    • Once you are satisfied with your report, save it and publish it so that it can be accessed by users as needed
