AWS EC2 Service

Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) is a widely used web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It allows users to launch and manage virtual machines (known as instances) on the AWS cloud infrastructure.

Here are some key features and functionalities of AWS EC2:

1. Instance Types: AWS EC2 offers a variety of instance types, each optimized for specific use cases, such as general-purpose, memory-intensive, compute-intensive, GPU instances, etc.

2. Elastic IP Addresses: You can assign static public IP addresses (Elastic IP) to your instances, allowing you to maintain the same IP even if you stop and start the instance.

3. Security Groups: Security groups act as virtual firewalls, controlling inbound and outbound traffic to your instances.

4. Amazon Machine Images (AMIs): AMIs are pre-configured templates that allow you to create instances with specific operating systems and software configurations.

5. Elastic Block Store (EBS): EBS provides persistent block storage volumes for EC2 instances, which can be used as boot volumes or attached as additional storage.

6. Auto Scaling: EC2 Auto Scaling helps automatically adjust the number of instances based on demand, ensuring you have the right amount of compute capacity at any given time.

7. Load Balancing: Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) distributes incoming traffic across multiple EC2 instances to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.

8. Virtual Private Cloud (VPC): VPC allows you to create a logically isolated virtual network within the AWS cloud to run your EC2 instances securely.

9. IAM Roles: Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles grant permissions to EC2 instances, allowing them to interact securely with other AWS services.

10. Placement Groups: Placement groups enable you to control the placement of instances to achieve low-latency and high-throughput communication between them.
