Databricks Runtime 13.3 LTS is a long-term support release of the Databricks platform, built on Apache Spark 3.4.1. It was released in August 2023 and offers improved stability, performance, and security for big data analytics.

  • Scala Support for Shared Clusters: Enhanced Scala support for improved cluster utilization.
  • Allowlist for Init Scripts, JARs, and Maven Coordinates: Increased security and control for Unity Catalog shared clusters.
  • Volumes Support for Init Scripts and JARs: Improved flexibility in managing initialization scripts and JAR files.
  • Safe Casts Enabled by Default for Delta Lake Operations: Enhanced data integrity and reliability.
  • We are introducing Tags with Unity Catalog: Simplified organization and management of data assets.
  • Improved Error Handling: More robust error handling for file modifications between query planning and invocation.
  • Enhanced Security: Blocked schema overwrite when using dynamic partition overwrites.
  • Integration of copyFile API: Streamlined file copying operations.
  • ODBC/JDBC Driver Support: Support was added for unnamed (positional) parameter markers.
