Core HCM Concepts

  • HR Fundamentals: Deep understanding of HR processes such as recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, performance management, talent development, and compliance.
  • Workday Business Processes: Knowledge of how to configure various functional areas within Workday, aligning them with your organization’s specific HR processes.
  • Supervisory Organizations: Understanding how supervisory organizations are structured within Workday and the ability to create and manage these hierarchies.

Technical Skills

  • Workday Configuration: Ability to configure Workday modules like:
    • Core HCM
    • Benefits
    • Talent Management
    • Recruiting
    • Payroll
    • Time tracking, etc.
  • Calculated Fields: Creating and modifying complex calculated fields for specific data transformations or manipulations.
  • Workday Reports: Build both standard and advanced (composite, matrix) reports to extract and present HR data meaningfully.
  • Security: Setting up and managing user roles, permissions, and data access within the Workday security model.
  • Integrations: Understanding how Workday integrates with other systems using tools like Workday Studio, EIBs (Enterprise Interface Builders), and web services.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Interpreting HR data to identify trends, patterns, and support data-driven decisions.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to isolate, diagnose, and resolve issues within the Workday system.
  • Requirements Gathering: Effectively elicit information about organizational needs from stakeholders and translate that into Workday configurations.

Soft Skills

  • Communication: Clearly explaining Workday concepts and changes to HR teams, managers, and employees. Writing clear documentation is also important.
  • Collaboration: Working with IT, HR teams, and end-users to implement and optimize Workday solutions.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing Workday implementations or smaller configuration updates with defined timelines.
  • Change Management: Help your organization adopt and effectively navigate changes introduced by Workday.
